Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Martii Maclean I’ve always loved the idea of playing around and retelling old tales and myths. A few years ago I was running a writing group for young people and we were playing a ‘what if’ thinking game to help us come with story ideas. My question to myself was: What if sleeping beauty’s curse work differently? What if she slept and woke? What if she had a family and passed the curse on genetically? Then I ended up with ‘If I Die Before I Wake’ which tells the magical tale of what life is like for Sleeping Beauty’s granddaughter.
