Gail Carson Levine My book that's coming out in May, THE LOST KINGDOM OF BAMARRE, prequel to THE TWO PRINCESSES OF BAMARRE, is based on "Rapunzel." Donna Jo Napoli has written an adaptation of "The Frog Prince" called THE PRINCE OF THE POND that I completely love. I wouldn't attempt to improve on her version.

Hi, me again about the island story. At the end of Fairest, there's the scene "When Ivi Was Wren: A Deleted Chapter of Fairest". In my island story, there's a character that I created who can hear deleted dialogues. I was wondering if I could use some of the dialogue from that scene in my story? It would just be used for this man to hear it as he does many other things. If you don't want me to use it that's fine. :)

Mrs. Levine, I haven't picked up a book by you that I haven't loved. While I never cared much for Tinker Bell aside her original appearance in J. M. Barrie's novel, I've fallen in love with your depiction of her in the Fairy Dust Trilogy books. I'm fascinated by the depth you brought to characters that I'd considered fairly bland. What was it like to work with them? Was Disney very restrictive in what you could do?
