Why is this book adult? Could a thirteen year old read it?

Mary Haynes There's no language or violence, but the mom in the book does have an affair and there is a quickly skimmed over sex scene.

Annie Its a bit obscure and very sad, there is nothing wrong or "adult" about it but I would recommend it to more mature audience

Grace K. Yeah,I mean I'm not 13 and I read it a few weeks ago but i believe a 13 yr.old can read it.
