Goodreads asked Faiz Shaikh:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Faiz Shaikh A story happens on its own. If you feel trapped in one scene, move on from it. Think of some other story for a while. Try to write a small poem or a smart snippet for a hypothetical ad campaign. When you disengage your mind, you would be able to come back to original scene with a fresh perspective.

The novel that I am currently writing, 'Until Next Time' took six years to finish. I had most of the story done in my mind except the climax. I figured I needed a lot more maturity to do justice to the delicate nature of the set-up. I spent the next six years living my life as best I wanted it to be.

Then one fine day, the climax scene just came to me. I was finally mature enough to understand my own characters.

Sometimes things take time. If a story doesn't come to you, it may be because you are not ready for it yet.
