I am not sure. But, while you probably know this -- and it may not be the type of answer you're looking for -- there's a novel. The Forever War was adapted to the first 3 parts of this graphic novel series (of which this is book 4); the novel Forever Free was adapted into the second trilogy (of which this is book 1). It's really worth the read. It's not overly long. There's a third novel even, and a short story! The third novel -- Forever Peace -- factually has nothing to do with the actual plots of the other installments, but is sort of spiritual successor or companion novel; A Separate War (the short story) however, is really part of the Forever War continuity, and it tells of an episode that has been incorporated into these-here graphic novels. (So, Forever Free and A Separate War, together contain the material that spawned these graphics.)
I loved all graphics, all 3 novels, and the story! There's a great omnibus which contains the novels (but sadly, not the short story).
