Hi Jeaniene, first let me say I absolutely love all your books. One of the best vampire series I've ever read. I was very sad when Cat and Bones series ended, but yet I'm glad you ended it when you did. And how you ended it. I think sometimes authors let series go on way to long and they just run out of juice. Everytime I reread your series something bugs me, Maximus is older than Vlad so why can't he read minds?

Jeaniene Frost Hi Kimberly! In my books, vampires develop different gifts when they age. Mindreading is one of those gifts, but not all vampires have it. Maximus doesn't, but he can fly (a gift not all vampires have) and he is unusually strong. I didn't get a chance to explore that very much in the Night Prince books, but there are hints, and it's hinted at again in Into The Fire. It's something I'd like to play with in a future story, so you probably haven't seen the last of Maximus even after the Night Prince series ends :).
