Meg
Meg asked Francesca Zappia:

Hey, so I really love your book and have seen that you wrote some of it in high school and middle school. As a teenage writer, I am wondering how much/often you wrote, and do you have any tips on balancing writing with school? Thanks, and I can't wait for your new Eliza and Her Monsters book!

Francesca Zappia My strategy was basically to never procrastinate my homework. If I had to do something for class, I did that first and got it done so that I could spend the rest of the night writing guilt-free. Not doing schoolwork had a much more immediate consequence than not writing, so that was priority. Then probably 90% of my free time--at home, between classes, even during class if I was done with all my other work--was spent writing or thinking about the story I was working on. It was really a case of wanting to do nothing else but write, and making sure I was able to continue to write meant getting all my other work done (which is still true now!).

I hope that helps!
