Goodreads asked N.J. Donner:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

N.J. Donner A few things:
1. 'Hammer on the keys'
Worry less about details of what you are typing and more about actually getting it typed. If the bulk of the story isn't on the page, you can't fine tune it.
2. 'Teamwork'
No matter who you are, you need help. Without all of the great people that have helped me with ideas, editing, morale, and marketing, I am sure the Blue Moon Narthex would not be completed today.
3. 'Goals'
If you want to finish, hold yourself accountable for making progress. I doesn't have to be big steps, but don't let a project stand still too long.
4. 'Thicken the Skin'
The longer you spend on a manuscript, the more attached you get to it. As you let your work suffer the opinions of others, really listen to all of the feedback you receive. Don't take offense to suggested changes, but really look at why someone would comment on a particular section. Stick to the things that are truly important and be flexible to things that aren't.
