After finishing the book, I am still puzzled about one thing. At the beginning of the story, Elle told Clara that she had always loved her artwork. When did Elle see Clara's artwork? Did they ever meet before that day?

Since Three Pines is an artistic conclave and Elle herself was an artist her old friends could easily have shared pictures of or discussed Clara's art with her. Elle might even have looked it up for herself during her more lucid periods.(less)
