After finishing the book, I am still puzzled about one thing. At the beginning of the story, Elle told Clara that she had always loved her artwork. When did Elle see Clara's artwork? Did they ever meet before that day?

What El says to Clara and the lemon pie cannot be explained, specifically, they require faith that they happened.
