What’s the best thing about being a writer?

Alexys Hillman Knowing that what I'm doing is helping other people. Whether it's the chapter I contributed to a Family Medicine textbook or my guided reflection for patients with chronic pain, I know that my work is helping others. The added perk is that people can access my assistance from the privacy of their own home -- they don't have to use sick time at work to see me in the office, they don't have to pay a copay, there are no time constraints in the clinic schedule, no one has to know if they don't want them to. That alone is empowering for some, and I love being able to reach people *where they are*.
