What was your inspiration for the story? Had you read about a manuscript similar to the Ashmole 782?

I had tried to call Ashmole 782 from the Bodleian doing my dissertation research and they told me it was missing. I've wondered about it ever since. It is a real, missing manuscript!

Would you ever consider teaching an open online course on the history surrounding your trilogy? I loved how you connected a fictional story to real people and events of the past. I listened to Shadow of Night on audiobook with my ipad open looking up details on all the historical figures. It would be fun to have a guide taking me through the history, culture, art, society of Europe in the 1590s.

Despite the book being about vampires, witches, and daemons, it felt so real in many ways. In part I think because I read them as archetypes - e.g. woman who needs to claim her power and a brooding, strong male making peace with his shadow side...Also the parallels to racial issues in our world make it very relevant. Was that your intention or was that just my lense? Thank you!!
