How do you get inspired to write?

Victoria Wilson Everything around me inspires me to write. I don't know if this happens to other writers living in a large metropolitan area, but New York has this energy I can feel even when I'm standing around doing nothing. I believe many times this energy gets me going, so to speak, and I HAVE to write. It's at these times that I'm very happy I have a smart phone to write with (if I'm not at home when the urgency to write strikes).
