Jm asked A.K. Downing:

What prompted the story? What was the impetus for you to pick up that pen for the very, very first time and write those first words? Then what compelled you to keep going?

A.K. Downing Thank you for taking the time to ask a question JM! The journey of this novel started over four years ago. My daughter and I were walking home from a play date and she made up a story about a man who stole things. At some point during her story she told me his name. When I got home I wrote the name down the best I could remember: Mehgo Capiro.

Over the course of the next 4 months, bits of my story began to surface. I thought it odd that ideas kept coming to me… so I wrote some of them down. And then I wrote down more. And before I knew it I had notepads, tablets of all sizes, and scraps of paper scattered everywhere -coated with plot points, rough sentences, and random thoughts.

There were many times I wanted to stop writing. Late nights of editing after I put my daughter to bed. Evenings when I just couldn’t seem to make a paragraph work. But I was consistently driven to continue by the sheer need to tell the story. And now I’m so glad I kept with it. The story that took 4 years to pull together is finally published for someone else to enjoy!
