Kit asked Jodi Meadows:

You're an amazing writer! The Incarnate series is one of my favorite trilogies out there. The "world-building" is super good... did you plan everything about the sylph and the over creatures and everything before you wrote it, or did it just come to you?

Jodi Meadows Well that is super nice of you to say!! <3

I did plan all of it out before I started writing. To make a long story short (no, trust me, it spans years), I wrote all three books before I got my edit letter for Incarnate, which was good in one way (I had a strong direction), and bad in another (ripple-effect for edits).

So by the time I edited Incarnate and then Asunder, I realized I wasn't satisfied with even some of the worldbuilding I'd set up for the series, and had to go back and take another look at it. While I was finishing editing Asunder, I went through everything to make sure my new (but not so different) direction for Janan, the sylph, and all their origins worked. And then I trashed the entire first draft of Infinite and started over with all of my revisions in mind.
