I'm hardly the person to ask about this LOL. Promotion is probably my weakest skill. My system is to write some freebie stories so people can meet my characters and style, and to hang out with other readers and writers, and just be excited about the genre and all the great books. Oh, and go to GayRomLit in October, because it's a fun way to connect with gay romance readers.
There are lots of more formal ways to promote a book - review sites have been great about taking my books for reviews, there are blog tours and read-to-review giveaways, and also paid companies that organize promotion and paid advertizing and discount days and Book Bub (however that works)... and much more, I'm sure.
I'd say if you have an indy release, your best bet is to join some groups here that are for Indy authors, and for the topic of your book, and look around. (Even for a pro release the ideas may still help.) If you write M/M romance as I do, the main M/M Romance books group has promotion opportunities and info threads there. Good luck!

Hi, I just read one of your books and really loved it (Avocado Protection), and was just wondering: Have you written any original gay fairy tales or classic fairy tale retellings? If you have, please point me in that direction! I generally like any genre or theme as long as it’s MM romance, but the fairy tales are a guilty pleasure, but have discovered that there are much too few of those written to my liking. Thanks!
