Book asked Steph Nuss:

Do you have any advice for a first time Writer in progress?

Steph Nuss I still feel like I'm a first time writer myself, but my best advice is to write what you want to read. When you write something you want to read, there's a good chance others are going to want to read it, too. It will also make the review process feel less stressful, when you read that first negative review (we all get them), it won't feel like such a big blow to your writing ego because you know you stayed true to yourself, your characters and their story. Creating character profiles for your characters will also make it easier to write their stories, when you have a background for them and separate them from other people you may or may not know; it's a way to bring their personalities to fictional life. I like using this character profile for my writing and it's helped me tremendously: http://www.epiguide.com/ep101/writing...
Another tidbit I like to tell first time writers is to be as active as you possibly can be on social media, get your name out there even before your book is released, use the help of book blogs, and don't be afraid to ask for help from other authors, readers, and book blogs. If you're self-publishing, the indie community is filled with very supportive individuals, so as long as your active in a positive manner, it's a great way to get yourself and your work out there for readers to check out! :)
