Kristina asked Katie Crouch:

I don't usually read "southern" but I loved your settings and character descriptions, it was enjoyable to get to know all the people. What other books would you recommend that are a must read for a northwesterner to understand the south in a personal way?

Katie Crouch Oh, LOTS. I love Jill McCorkle's work. Patti Callahan is terrific. Fried Green Tomatoes by Fannie Flagg, as well as the Divine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood, those are classics. Rich in Love by Jo humphreys. And Clover by Dori Sanders. Thank you for asking!
