I am so sorry about your Mom. It seems cancer somehow touches us all at some point in our lives. I'm so glad you found something to help you in this book. About 90% of it is a true story. Just some of the events happened at different times. I still miss her everyday.

Just finished your book and was wondering when you'll have another one ready? Yes, I cried during the last few chapter. And yes, I got aggravated, sometimes, with some of the main characters, but it really turned out o.k. Loved "The Secret to Hummingbird Cake!"

I wasn't aware that you had lost a friend to cancer, that explains the very human feelings that I receive from Hummingbird Cake,,I had two very close friends die May 21 , 2016 from cancer and reading this book helped release some of the feelings I had been holding inside, plus a lot of tears.
