Does anyone know if the Jimmy Gold trilogy is a "tip of the hat" to a real set of books? Many writers seem to enjoy making subtle deferential references to their own favorite authors. I know these books in the story are fictional, but are they inspired by any real work or author?

Cyndi I found him to be a mashup of John Updike and JD Salinger. I think it was intentional that he drew parallels to more than one author. There may have been nods to others as well, but those were the two most obvious that I picked up on.
Jen Scarrott I had wondered the same thing; the only thing I could kind of link it to in my head was Jack Kerouac, who undoubtedly influenced many young minds with "On The Road" ...
