I have to admit to an "OMG" moment when I read the bit about omitting the injection! Did you face any sanctions or have any disciplinary action taken against you? Like you - sometimes I broke the rules too - if I thought it was in my patient's best interests.

the patient improved and I eventually discharged him from my caseload. I've had all sorts of warnings and disciplinaries in my 20 years but am able justify every single instance by doing what was best for the patient even at the expense of the organisation, my paygrade and my post at the time. It was my entire disatisfaction with the mental health system (and a specific event that happened on October 11th 1998) that led me to write The Frugality Trilogy. It's been a wild old ride!

One of the areas I covered, was the poshest in Cardiff, with one of the streets dubbed "Millionaire's Row"....... and boy were there some mental health problems with that lot - but because they had pots of money, they were referred to as being "eccentric" !! ???

Was Simon Anthony based on a true patient. Being a District Nurse for 38 years myself (not psychiatric) - I encountered some very different people in very different living surroundings - so writing all over someone's walls is a perfectly believable phenomenon for me?
