Ahmya asked Eve Langlais:

When you're writing a series how many books should in your opinion there be in one series?

Eve Langlais That's actually a tough one. I think there should be a minimum of at least 3. But as to more, that depends.

Most times, I find if you're following only one character, once you hit book 5 or 6, I lose interest. The character has done it all and it becomes harder and harder to stay original. However, if a series is based more on a created world with an overreaching story arc, following different main characters in each book, then a series can go on for a while, so long as the author can keep the ideas fresh.

I know I have a few series that have a ways to go. Welcome to Hell, with 5 books, has at least 2 more in its future. My cyborg one I think will probably have another 3 because of the story line. Others like my Alien Abduction series will depend on my getting a smack from my muse.

In the end it also depends on reader interest. If they ask, then I try to deliver. :D
