A better guide might be whether the reader enjoys it. It plays with a lot of literary and pop culture references, from Gaiman's own books to a variety of world mythologies, to Sherlock Holmes, to Ray Bradbury, to Dr. Who, etc. You wouldn't have to get all of them to enjoy the book (few people can match Gaiman on these things), but someone who would enjoy it would have read (and maybe watched) enough to handle Trigger Warning.(less)
