In my mind, there's a kind of worldliness that is needed to get some of the nuances in some stories, but it's really up to you.

I'd say that the stories are tamer than the short story collections of Stephen King, but they are still meant to make you uneasy. For me, I definitely wouldn't have liked this collection as much if I were eleven, but I think by the time I was thirteen I would have been able to process the material just fine. (less)
