Mr Raman, I must say that I enjoyed both your books immensely. They seemed representative of corporate India and very authentic. I thought that the modus operandi you constructed in Insider was brilliant. To an extent that if forms a blue print for a crook to indulge in insider trading. Now, to my question: Was the design of the crime based on any real-life incident that you came across during your career?

No, the crime is not based on any real-life incident. I constructed it from scratch based on what I believe is eminently do-able in corporate India. The cherry on the cake came when I designed an IT mechanism to enable the crime.
However, one does hear of people supplementing their income by selling privileged information, and in some cases, by indulging in insider trading.

Your first two books (Fraudster & Insider) had a male police inspector as a protagonist, but the third (Saboteur) introduces a bike-riding lady inspector. What prompted you to do this? And why the shift to Bangalore? Because it is e-commerce? Do you plan to set future stories in other cities?
