After reading the description above, I wonder how the author manages to get around the issue of DNA testing? It doesn't mention what era the book is set in, so supposing it is modern day how does it explain why the parents don't request a DNA test to resolve any doubts? I kind of want to know before I even mark this as "to-read".

Still, I think part of the confusion was due to Anna's disoriented mental state. Once I surrendered that, I was captivated. I did resist a bit, though. (less)
