The actual physical process of writing needs no inspiration, I can and do write anywhere, at any time, as much as I can! The creative process is inspired by characters. They develop in my mind until I know them intimately. When I understand their strengths and weaknesses, I prey upon those traits and put them into a situation that will create drama. Sometimes it's a matter of waiting for the right situation to come along. Right now I'm waiting for a new character to arrive in my head.

I have observed in your book Chantilly Dawns that some characters lead a very wealthy lifestyle from birth. There is a contrast with an extremely interesting character called Marcel, to me a complex and very likable character, who acquired wealth through his own means from his work as a jockey. Can you tell me where the inspiration came from to write such a variety of interesting characters?

Just wondering, have you ever considered an Irish version of Black Beauty? or a fictional version of what happened to Shergar!?
