Does anyone like that the author wrote the railroad as a physical, operating one? I felt it unnecessary and beyond the scope of possibility.

I mean people don't actual intuit elevator maintenance either but that is The Intuitionist. Using mechanical objects as metaphors of our society is so interesting - we make the machines and in some way they make us. (less)
