Does anyone like that the author wrote the railroad as a physical, operating one? I felt it unnecessary and beyond the scope of possibility.

We see the Railroad as an actual railroad because that's how she imagines it. I suppose it's still possible to interpret the story that way, but I don't think that was the author's intent.(less)
