Does anyone like that the author wrote the railroad as a physical, operating one? I felt it unnecessary and beyond the scope of possibility.

To find out that it is metaphorical doesnt really bother me. But I just found the whole book quite tediously written. Just struggled to finish it. My rating of 3 was more based on the theme than the writing itself.
And I think many (including myself)assume that this is historical fiction while in reality it is not a true depiction of history at all but the author's interpretation. (less)
