Tara Woods Turner asked Margaret Standafer:

In The Inn at Misty Lake Susan Taylor decides to renovate an old farm house and turn it into a thriving bed and breakfast. The renovation plans and details you put in the book were interesting and I found myself wishing I could spend a weekend there lol. Have you ever tackled a similar project or are you a DIY buff?.biz.biz.biz

Margaret Standafer Hi Tara, thanks for asking! I enjoyed writing about Susan and Riley’s renovation project. I haven’t ever tackled anything quite like it myself, but would love to do so one day. We’ve done a number of remodeling projects in our house, but always one room at a time. I’m not so good at living with a mess. Having an old house to work on, then being able to close the door on the mess at the end of the day and heading home to some order, sounds ideal. My husband has worked as a general contractor so has experience with many of the processes and techniques I talked about in The Inn at Misty Lake. I drew on his expertise and did a lot of research to try to keep the details accurate and believable. By the time I was done “creating” the bed and breakfast, I, too, wanted to spend some time there!
