Goodreads asked Andrew Chugg:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Andrew Chugg I realised that it should be possible to reconstruct Cleitarchus from his surviving fragments. He wrote a biography of Alexander the Great in the 3rd century BC, which became the most influential book ever on the king. But all the original copies were lost or destroyed in antiquity, so we know his work only through Roman writers. As soon as I realised he could be resurrected, it became a sacred mission.
