I am very fortunate to have a group of creative friends. Brainstorming with someone with a different viewpoint can sometimes be just the thing to smooth out sticky plot points and open up new avenues of thought. Carry a note pad and jot down interesting things you see and hear. You never know when a great new idea will come your way.
