Goodreads asked K.G. Reuss:

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

K.G. Reuss I see a great many things in my line of work. I meet a variety of people, some sick, some healthy, some dying-all inspire me. Every situation I find myself in leads me down a path. I have met some extraordinary people with extraordinary stories, with extraordinary lives. Every situation I stumble into in life is simply a seed to something greater.

The Chronicles of Winterset, Oracle, was inspired by a road. Seems simple, eh? I was out on an emergency call when we passed by a road called Winterset. I thought, "What a pretty name. I should write a book about it." The name stuck with me. I had this bizarre dream a few weeks later (I always have bizarre dreams) about a girl being lost in a woods. She met different people along the way, and they changed her, molded her into someone great. Finally, she reached a house in the woods she was drawn to, and when she had the courage to knock on the door, a man answered. The man she had been running from. I woke up and immediately wrote it down. After many drafts, and many late nights, The Chronicles of Winterset was born.
