If you have a rescue cat then why are you writing a new series with a pet shop as its setting? Pet shops are not the place to get animals and are often a source of mills. In my opinion pet shops that have animals in them and not just supplies shouldn't be allowed. They also inspire trafficking in birds and other wildlife that should not be pets.
