Stop reading Holmes and pick up the real thing - The Moonstone. I find Doyle's books tedious and boring. Moonstone is, as the T. S. Eliot quote says, "The first and greatest English detective novel."

I read "The Complete Sherlock Holmes" too. Every word of it. No doubt you should read "The Moonstone". Possibly it will be your "best ever" after you've read it.
