Jeff asked Noah Hawley:

I am a writer and your writing, especially Fargo, has been a big influence on me. I love how you can blend both genre and the personal in the show, which is something I try to do in my own writing. Thus, my question, which really has two parts: do you think of yourself as a genre writer, and how do you find ways to inset quiet, human moments in stories focused so much on crime, mystery, and plot?

Noah Hawley I like to reinvent genres as character pieces. They have a familiar structure, but if you build them as character pieces they become unfamiliar and intriguing.
