Carla Terrell asked A.D. Koboah:

Hello, and thanks for receiving my friend invitation. My question is: Do you believe a "victim" of dehumanization will often become a "victimizer" of others? That seems to be the consensus of many people.

A.D. Koboah Hi Carla.

Thanks for your friend request and for asking such an interesting question.

When I started writing The Darkling Trilogy, I wasn’t sure myself that people who have been dehumanised can find their way back. But somewhere along the way, I decided that some people can find their way back. Avery is one of them. Others either never do move past their dehumanising experiences, or it takes them an incredibly long time to do so. I do believe that some people who have been dehumanised do go on to dehumanise, or oppress others, often in order to have the control/power they didn’t have. But not everyone. This is just my personal view which you’ll see played out in the trilogy.

Thanks again for asking such an interesting question. Feel free to ask more question or if you want me to clarify anything I've said.

All the best,

ADK. x
