Everyone is raving about this book but I just can't get into it. I've read the first two chapters and they are so confusing. Is there a book I should read before this one?

If you want you can read the Shadow and Bone series first, just to familiarize yourself with some of the common terms, but I didn't and it was fine. It's really up to you.(less)
