Everyone is raving about this book but I just can't get into it. I've read the first two chapters and they are so confusing. Is there a book I should read before this one?

Even tho I've read the Grisha trilogy, I could not understand a thing and almost gave it up. The other day I opened it again, somewhere around page 60, and everything read so much smoother (less)
