Katie asked Susan Mallery:

I am a college student who LOVES reading and although I am not studying writing, I dream of becoming a writer. Any tips or suggestions for young authors on finishing a book, or finding someone to take my work seriously? You are on of my favorite authors, and I can't wait to read the new book! :)

Susan Mallery Hi, Katie! The truth is, EVERY agent and editor out there--not to mention EVERY reader--is hungry for good books! You really don't need to worry about them taking you seriously. You just need to write the best book you can, and then let the writing speak for itself.

As for tips on finishing the book, I'll give you advice you've probably heard before. Write every day. The middle of the book is always, always hard, but you just have to put your head down and your shoulder into it and power through. You'll have to try different techniques to find what works best for you, but no matter what techniques you choose, the book won't write itself. Having a great idea is not enough. You have to have the drive to get that idea on paper, and to keep going until you reach The End.

Good luck with your writing! I want you to succeed, because I'm always hungry for good books, too! <3
