asked:
Why do movies get R ratings for using the "F-bomb" but write a book wabout teenagers and call it YA or teen book, fill it with crude language and it's perfectly accepted and even lauded?

I think the problem comes down to this book was labelled as YA, but really is more of a New Adult novel.

Books have never had such a national rating system, at least not in across-in the U.S. I see that there are some sites such as Book Cave that have such a ratings system. As a librarian (and a parent) I look for reader level and age-based suggestions, and reviews to help with discernment.
