After contemplating the direction the story should likely follow, I simply start typing whatever comes to mind. Maybe I'll get a couple of words down, or a sentence or two, and maybe backspace them out and start over. Perhaps a whole paragraph will follow. Maybe not. But that activity on the keyboard starts the juices flowing, and before long, a flurry of thoughts and ideas start to darken the paper, and I'm on my way. The important part is to start typing. Something. Anything. Then let 'er rip.
