In fact the protagonist in this book could have been the same woman, just moved from a train to a ship. I want someone to either root FOR or AGAINST and I didn't give a crap about any of the characters. The bad guys weren't bad enough and the good guys... well were there any good guys except kinda sorta Carrie? Her drinking and whining was totally tedious.
The writing itself was smart and fast enough paced, but the character development of such obnoxious characters was just annoying.
PS: What in heck does Jude see in her? He must be a masochist.(less)
