I get this question a lot. Sometimes friends will whisper in my ear, "That's not about my family, is it...?" The story of A Lie For Lie didn't evolve from one single event. It's inspired by a few different things that happened when I was a teen. The effects of having your world shaken to its core at the moment you're leaving childhood and trying to become independent if where my stories often begin. I'm fascinated with how people deal with trauma. I think the richness happens when the story is slowed down and examined. So, the story is true in the sense that it's mined from true emotion, but trumped up to make it flow better.
