Years ago I was working with a family of a 3 year old who was not sleeping well. I used my usual strategy for that age group of bringing everyone in the family together to discuss why sleep is important and to agree to all follow a simple set of sleep rules.
Later that evening the mom called me to tell me that their 3 year old was putting her favorite stuffed animal to bed and reminding her teddy of the sleep rules he needed to follow. After that I began using preschoolers' favorite dolls or stuffed animals as a way of helping them feel more invested and motivated to engage in healthy sleep habits at home.
Since then I've heard so many great stories from preschoolers about putting their cuddly "best friends" to bed. Bungee represents the spirit all of those stories!
