A Goodreads user asked Megan Jacobson:

How did yoy get your book to a publisher? Do you have an agent and is it hard getting one?

Megan Jacobson Hi Kiana! I do have an agent, I'm with Curtis Brown Australia, and they submitted the manuscript to the publishers for me and facilitated the deal. To get the agent I googled 'best agents in Australia' and then researched the individual agents at Curtis Brown to decide which one would be the best fit for me. I made sure my manuscript was in the best shape possible before I sent it off - you only get one chance! So I had edited it and put it away and edited it some more. The Agent websites will let you know how they want the manuscript delivered, generally it's the first three chapters and a query letter. I googled query letters to make sure mine was done correctly, and sent it off. After a few months my agent got back to me and requested the full manuscript, then a month later she accepted me as a client. Basically, do your research, and google is your friend!
