Ann Ocean asked Penelope Douglas:

When you begin writing books like Bully and Corrupt do you know right away that you are going to write each character's own book or is it by popular demand from your readers? Did Kai or Madoc throw hissy fits in your head screaming that they wanted their own books too?

Penelope Douglas Hey, Kim!

At first, no. Bully and Corrupt started out as stand alones, but it gets to the point as you write the book, that you connect with the side characters and want to tell their stories as well. Corrupt, especially.

When I got to the scene of Will's prank and talked about Emmy Scott, that's when I knew we'd have more Corrupt books. The other horsemen were starting to give hints about their lives and I became interested in learning more about them. I think it just gets to the point where you fall in love with all of these people and don't want to let them go yet. So...that's how a series starts! ;)

Thanks for the question!
