Sometimes I get stuck on a character's response to the situation I've placed him in. At time like those, I open a new file and write what I call a 'rant.' I allow that character to blast out how he feels. It usually goes for half to a full page. Once finished, I not only get some idea where the character should go, but get some good lines at the same time."
