What interests you about historical fiction? Does it have something different in terms of inspiration compared with writing that is not from a historical perspective. I would be interested in particular to know if you have knowledge about any specific periods from history itself to draw on when you craft your work in this kind of field.

Hi James, thanks for getting in touch.
I've been fascinated by the period between the Dark Ages and up to the Tudor times for many years, but I honestly can't say why. Even before I started writing I would search for programmes and films set in the middle ages, and obviously books as well!
In terms of inspiration, I find that it gives me a framework to hang my stories on, though sometimes this can also be restricting. However, because my concentration is on the paranormal element of my writing, albeit it in an historical setting (usually), I do tend to stretch or distort the truth to a certain degree.
And after all, who knows what really happened nearly a thousand years ago!
